The second Student Conference on Alija Izetbegović "Bosnia comes first"


On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the ascension to a better world of the first president of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, founder and endowment of Fund ''Bošnjaci'', Alija Izetbegović, the second Student Conference on Alija Izetbegović was held under the title "Bosnia comes first" in the great hall of the Gazi Husrev-bey library in Sarajevo on October 12, 2023. The organizers of the conference were Fund ''Bošnjaci'', the "Alija Izetbegović" Museum, the "Alija Izetbegović" Foundation and the "Young Muslims" Association.

In addition to a large number of admirers of the figure and works of Alija Izetbegović, pupils and students, the conference was attended by distinguished members of the Izetbegović family.

On behalf of the organizers of the conference, Prof. dr. Admir Mulaosmanović, under whose mentorship the students have been studying the written works of President Alija Izetbegović for the past few months, addressed the audience. On behalf of the family, Mr. Bakir Izetbegović, while thanking the organizers and students, recommended the young people to study the works of Alija Izetbegović, especially when it comes to the work "My Escape to Freedom".

Nine students took part in the conference, most of whom are scholarship holders of Fund ''Bošnjaci''. Students presented their works in three panels.

In the first panel, the following presented: Armin Žunić, student of the 2nd year of the ETF Master's study at the University of Sarajevo on the topic of Vision in the work "My Escape to Freedom", Amina Karić, student of the 6th year of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo on the topic of Freedom according to the work "My Escape to Freedom" and Ahmed Šadinlija, 4th year FIN student of the University of Sarajevo on the topic of Alija Izetbegović as Commander in Chief.

In the second panel, the following presented: Lamija Veladžić, 3rd year FPN student at the University of Sarajevo on the topic Other about Alija Izetbegović, Naida Redžić, 5th year student at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo on the topic Alija Izetbegović on the other and different and Nermin Avdukić, student II of the Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo on the subject of Izetbegović's understanding of the "third way" (block division).

In the third panel, the following presented: Amina Kahriman, 1st year Master's student at the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Administration on the topic Thinking about Europe, Elvedin Omerović, 2nd year FPN student at the University of Sarajevo on the topic Alija Izetbegović's problem/criticism of education in the Islamic world, and Nedžma Latić, Bachelor of International Relations at IUS on the topic of Justice and Law in the Thoughts of Alija Izetbegović.

The students approached the study of Alija Izetbegović's work in an extremely responsible, in proficient and professional manner, trying to analytically and critically process the given topics and thus contribute to the expansion of the mission and vision of the late president as a statesman, leader, man of dialogue and one of the most deserving of survival and preservation multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina. With their works and presentations, they justified the expectations of those present and showed and proved in their own way that "Bosnia comes first" in their lives.

At the conference, monetary prizes and awards were given to the winners of the literary contest on the topic "Stay upright, how will you with bowed head under the stars".
