SIGNED SCHOLARSHIP CONTRACTS FOR 2016/17 SCHOOL/ACADEMIC YEAR


On Saturday, December 10, 2016, in the premises of Gazi Husrev-bey's Library in Sarajevo, with a video presentation and appropriate address of Director Šahin Kerla and Muharem Hasanbegović, President of Managing Board of Fund ''Bošnjaci'', then PhD. Senaida hfz. Zajimović, Director of Waqf Directorate, and mr. Husein ef. Smajić, Deputy of Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina were signed contracts on scholarships for students in 2016/17 school/academic year.

Fund Director Šahin Kerla in his address stressed that one of the most important activities of the Fund is providing of scholarships to the exceptionally talented pupils and students from public higher education institutions in B&H. So far, over 1,900 pupils and students received scholarships including 81 students with an average score of 10.00, followed by 140 students winners of award, ''Golden Badge'', ''Golden Plaque'', ''Charter of the Rector'' ''Charter of the Dean” etc., 132 freshmen students of generation and 15 huffaz of the Holy Quran.

To this year announced contest for awarding scholarships have applied 331 candidate. The Fund’s Authorized Commission for establishment of the proposal of candidates for scholarships, in accordance with the Regulation on award of scholarships, the competition, submitted documentation, criteria and scoring system conducted processing of documentation and prepared the preliminary ranking list of applicants and as such it is published on the Fund’s website with the possibility of appeal to the Managing Board.

To this year announced contest for awarding scholarships have applied 331 candidate. After completion of the appeal process the final results have been published, so that the Fund from its own funds allocated 75 scholarships to students and 20 scholarships to pupils of high schools while from the funds that are for the tenth year provided from Bejtuzzakat from Kuwait are allocated 12 scholarships to students at public higher education institutions of University of Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zenica, Mostar and Bihać and 5 scholarships to students of the University of Banja Luka.

In this year 18 scholarship holders are with a grade point average of 10.00 and 10 freshmen are students of generation. Which kind of scholarship holders they are it is the best illustrated by their grade point average achieved in the past academic year and for students for which funding is provided by Fund ''Bošnjaci'' that is 9.41 while the grade point average at the scholarship holders for which funding is provided by Bejtuzzakat from Kuwait is 8.84.

The Fund Director said that Fund ''Bošnjaci'' is servicing scholarships to 20 pupils who are children of miners killed in a mining accident in Soma in Republic Turkey for which funding through donors, provides Mr. Bakir Izetbegović, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to these scholarships Fund ''Bošnjaci'' is servicing 22 scholarships for which funding is provided by Waqf Directorate from Waqf of r. Nurko Hadžić, so in total for this year are secured funds for scholarships for 202 pupils and students.

At the end of his speech Director of the Fund has extended his congratulations to the winners of scholarships with the hope that scholars will achieve through their commitment even better results, improve cultural, spiritual and traditional values of Bosniaks while respecting others and different and to guard and preserve our country by use of the knowledge and science, and that after completion of education and commencing of employment they will work on promotion and advancement of Fund ''Bošnjaci'', and financially assist enabling Fund’s long-term existence and continuation of scholarships for generations to come.

After signing of the Contracts those present, on behalf of the winners of scholarships, were addressed by Nudžeim Selimović, the fourth year student of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Sarajevo, Department of Physics, with an average score of 10.00, with the words:

''First of all, on behalf of the awarded students, I want to thank to all people from Fund ''Bošnjaci'', led by Director Šahin Kerla, for financial support that you have provided to us. At a time when the academic development is difficult, thanks to your persistence and work, we students have a better today and a strengthened belief in a better tomorrow.

In addition, the fact that our work and effort is recognized on the basis of objective and measurable criteria, at a time when it seems that our destiny is tailored by subjective and arbitrary yardsticks of individuals, raises our hope. Sincerely thank you for that sense of pride and self-realization!

Dear colleagues, I congratulate you on the successes and impressive grade point average achieved during the study. We are the ones who receive the heritage of this beautiful country and the responsibility to put our ability to all citizens as the best representatives of their people.
